Online Articles Concerning Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE)

Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) is a controversial ingredient. Some people believe it acts as an antioxidant for the oils they use in making soap or other skin care products. Some people believe it acts as a preservative for lotions and other products containing water.

Dragon's Pearls Naturals does not, and will not, use GSE for any reason. First, there is no scientific evidence it will help delay the rancidity of the high quality vegetable oils and butters I use in my products. Second, an independent study has shown that where GSE exhibited preservation qualities, the GSE itself had been adulterated with Tricolsan, or other preservatives, which was the cause of the preservation observed.

Pure, 100% natural GSE may indeed act as an antioxidant when included in your diet. However, this does not translate to appropriate use for skin care products.
